06/28/2011 by Erich Wynn and Dallas Design Group Architecture Dallas Design Group home designed for Lee Lewis Construction in Lubbock Texas wins "Favorite Decor" award Dallas Design Group owners Alice Wynn and Erich Wynn recently attended the 2011 West Texas Parade of Homes in Lubbock Texas to view a beautiful Texas Tuscan style home designed by DDG for Lee Lewis Construction at "The Trails at Regal Park" in Lubbock Texas. The Parade of homes was a smash success! 3,500 people attended the first day! This home designed by Dallas Design Group and constructed by Lee Lewis Construction, Inc. combines a Tuscan style architectural detailing which is inspired by the elements of nature. Once you have passed through the entry courtyard into this stunning home, the beauty of the open floor plan and walls covered with limestone shards brings the stones natural beauty inside. The first floors open concept is a great venue for causal entertaining and family activities. The large family room, with a stone fireplace and tall ceilings is the center of the home and flows into the kitchen and nook. The kitchen is a show area with a fireplace and bayed floor plan with stone and wood accents and is served by a butler pantry and bar. The dining room and office flank the entry courtyard and both include french doors that open onto it. Also on the first floor is a large isolated master bedroom suite with master bath and his and hers closets. In addition a laundry room also serves as a "Safe Room" for shelter from tornados and is located adjacent to a large three car garage. The second level includes three bedrooms with their own baths, a game room and a bonus room. The outdoor living area has a large covered patio area that includes a double sided fireplace that provides two sitting areas, one off of the main living area and the other isolated off the master suite. How many sheets are included in a set of house plans? What should you look for in a well designed set of house plans? The answers to these questions can be found by reviewing our example plan plan located here at www.dallasdesigngroup.com/affordable-house-plans-example-plan House Plans usually include the following items. 1) A Site plan- locates your house or structure on your lot or land. Showing all building setbacks and giving a general idea of how the house lays out. You'll see how much backyard and side yard is available for swimming pools and outdoor structures such as barns, patios, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, arbors, gazebos, etc... 2) Floor plans- on these sheets you will find all room sizes and dimensions, special construction notes calling out fireplaces, appliance locations, special ceiling treatments, patio locations, courtyard dimensions, ceiling heights, and other architectural details. These details help guide you and your builder throughout the building process. When building a two story structure, then the same architectural details will be shown for the second floor, or perhaps the basement floor or lower level if you are building a home with a basement. 3) The Elevations-These pages show the architectural intent for the exterior of the home. These pages will show exterior materials such as stone, or brick, or stucco. Other architectural details that are listed on the elevations pages are the type of roof materials, and cast stone elements, fountains or screening walls. 4) The electrical plans- Here you find all of the lighting details, plug locations, ceiling fans, conduit locations, water heating, cove lighting etc. 5) Roof plan- This is one of the most important parts of house plans,and is an integral piece of a well-designed set of house plans. Roof cuts are shown to demonstrate how the architectural design is intended to make the elevation aesthetically pleasing to the eye. From our roof plan, your builder has everything required to build a precise and beautifully designed roof. Our roof plans are drawn to 1/4 scale. and are accurate, work properly, and include numerous geometric cuts and angles of the elevations. Many typical house plan packages have four- six elevations on the roof plan. Our plans, may show as many as eight to ten – simply to verify the roof can be built the way it was designed. We pride ourselves on our accuracy and detail. 6) Section page-This is also a very important part of a set of house plans, sections are used to further describe any architectural intent (beyond what is provided in the floor plan’s notation sections.) Not all of our house plans include sections because they may not be required. 7)- General contruction noting. All our house plans come with three standard typical detail sheets on construction. These sheets cover a broad range of everyday situations that may occur on a construction site. The detail sheets are current, accurate, and provide your builder with a lot of helpful information to guide them throughout construction.
